The anniversary

Two hours from now marks the anniversary of the fire. There a lot of emotions and lack of sleep connected with this. I ask myself what is the likelihood that my house would burn down again? Not very likely but it is difficult to convince my brain of this truth especially since Anna Kate has been up several times tonight which is very unusual for her.

I am trying to look on the bright side of things. If it weren't for the fire, we would have never been able to remodel our house the way it is now. We definitely wouldn't have a new deck and all new appliances and all new safer wiring. We would still have our tiny master bathroom and no vaulted ceilings or coat closet! The sun room wouldn't be air conditioned and the driveway probably wouldn't be paved.

We were able to have a big birthday party for sweet Anna Kate last weekend to celebrate her first year of life but also to celebrate the blessing of all our lives and the blessing of our "new" home. Some might judge us for having a big party for a one year old who will not remember it and many have said that the party was for us and it partially was. We wanted to be surrounded by our friends and family as we closed a chapter in our lives and look forward to every day ahead.

Will post all the birthday party fun soon!

  1. The party was for all of you! It was a party to thank God for bringing you through the events of this past year. An added bonus to that party was that we got to celebrate Anna Kate's 1st birthday. I for one am extremely thankful for the blessings and feel that they are definitely worth celebrating.

And the heavens shall praise thy wonders, O Lord: thy faithfulness also in the congregation of the saints." Psalm 89:1,5
